The Puzzle
A mother whose three children (10, 7, 5 years old), all with
similar learning disabilities, is frustrated with the public
school's inability to provide the academic support promised. Her
two oldest sons are increasingly resistant and unresponsive to her
help and to their school work. The parent calls TM to find a tutor
or tutors.
The Missing Pieces
TM discusses and clarifies the parents' and students' goals.
Then, using our website, we contact all of our special education
tutors in Fairfield County. We provide the mother with a list of
tutors; she selects, interviews and chooses two who meet with her
children on a weekly basis.
The Perfect Fit
Within a few months both boys respond to the tutorials and show
marked improvement in school. Because of the tutors' insights and
advice, the daughter transfers to a school that addressed her
needs. Eventually the boys make the honor roll. Confrontations
concerning school matters and academic problems disappear. The
mother's relationships with her children improve dramatically. The
oldest son eventually attends the University of Chicago on a
scholarship and majors in physics and chemistry.

The Puzzle
A 10th grade honor roll student is anxious about test-taking.
With the SATs looming, her parents decide to seek help outside of
school. Her father is concerned about the coss of college tuitions
and of hiring a tutor so he contacts TM to help prepare her
daughter for the PSAT and SATs.
The Missing Pieces
TM discusses and clarifies the parents' and daughter's goals.
Then the parents conduct a tutor search on our website for a tutor
who best meets their daughter's needs. They request bids from a
number of tutors whose profiles, availability and fee ranges meet
their needs. They choose one of the tutors to meet with their
daughter on a weekly basis.
The Perfect Fit
She improves 100 +/- points in each of the verbal, math and
writing portions of the test. The father invests $900 and his
daughter subsequently qualifies for a $15,000 scholarship at a
prestigious university. An even bigger bonus: the daughter's
skills, confidence and self-esteem improve.

The
Puzzle
A mother requests an Orton Gillingham-trained reading tutor for
her 10-year-old daughter for summer study while the family spends
the summer in Greece. The daughter has trouble decoding words. The
mother wants her daughter to read more easily by the time she
enters 6th grade.
The Missing Pieces
TM discusses and clarifies the mother's and daughter's goals. TM
creates a profile of the student, and sends a request to its
network of reading instructors. Three interested tutors respond,
but not one is ultimately able to coordinate her schedule to meet
the commitment. Using our network of resources, we locate two other
reading specialists who TM interviews and screens....and then
refers one to tutor the child.
The Perfect Fit
The parents and the daughter love the tutor who is able to help
the child for 6 weeks in Padras, Greece. Upon her return to the
states, the daughter has more confidence reading and makes a
successful transition into 6th grade.
